Ministry Accomplishments

God has used the ministry (with the planting of Haumana Baptist Church) to accomplish many things for His glory and honor on Maui. See and read below several highlights of what God has used the ministry to accomplish since it’s inception.

2017-2019

The Reach Maui Ministry was launched.
Matt was ordained and sent by Ohana Baptist Church (Oahu, HI) as a missionary church planter to Maui.
Matt (with his family) traveled over 90,000 miles across the continental U.S. to present the ministry and raise financial support.

2020

Matt and his family ended support raising travels and settled in Maui.
A virtual Bible study on social media was started during the Covid-19 shutdowns.
The Bible study was transitioned to an in-person Bible study by Q4.

2021

Three outreach strategies were planned and implemented.
Church documents and the 501(c)(3) process for establishing Haumāna Baptist Church began.
A 2 PM Sunday service was launched on October 24th in Kahului with 47 local residents in attendance.

2022

Six believers were baptized.
A core group of believers were confirmed to form Haumāna Baptist Church.
An Inaugural Membership Sunday was held on September 25th with seven adult believers uniting to be Haumāna Baptist Church.

2023

Three believers were baptized.
Haumāna Baptist Church began distributing over $100,000 in donations to aid those affected by the August 8th wildfires.
Haumāna Baptist Church began partnering with the Maui Rescue Mission to minister to Maui’s homeless.

2024

Matt began regularly ministering at Maui Rescue Mission’s Kanaha homeless outreach.
Haumāna Baptist transitioned its service time from 2 PM to 10 AM with 10 visitors at the launch service.
Haumāna Baptist held a Christmas outreach event with 16 visitors.

2025 (so far)

A quarterly community movie night called “Message and a Movie” was started where a clear presentation of the Gospel is given.
Faithful ministry continues.
